blog break in California

Blog Break

I’m taking a short blog break while in California. I’ll be back soon!

In mid-July, we took a planned trip to California. It was supposed to be 9 days. Luckily, it has turned into so much more. Our plan was to arrive in Fresno for a couple of days to celebrate my nephew’s 1st birthday! We also planned on heading up to Tahoe then back to Fresno for a few days before heading home.

A few days before we left, we were at the lake all day out of cell phone range only to return to many text messages and voicemails. My sister broke her ankle and was rushed to the hospital. Ultimately, she had emergency surgery to repair her ankle that was broken in 3 places. 😖 All of this took place in preparation for her sons 1st birthday party.

We made our way to Fresno on Friday. We were able to celebrate my nephew as planned with a few minor changes. It was such a cute party! Baseball theme. ⚾ It felt great to be able to execute my sisters vision. Happy that my sister and brother-in-law didn’t miss out on this momentous occasion. The 1st birthday really is a celebration of them. 💞 For more ideas for this party theme and more, check out my It’s My Party Pinterest Board.

Tahoe Trip

On Monday, we left for Lake Tahoe, which was a prepaid trip we had planned since last year. Although Covid-19 changed a lot of our plans, we had a great time! 🏖️ We had a lake day with some dear friends that live there, whom I met while I lived there in 2010. Our daughters are only 6 months apart and were thick as thieves by the time we left. 👭 Such sweet memories were made.

Forty and Fabulous

Back to Fresno and got to celebrate my 40th birthday! 🤩 Forty & Fabulous was the theme. Again helping to execute my sisters vision. I felt so special and blessed to be able to celebrate with a small group of my closest friends and family.

Family Time

After all that, my husband left so he could return to work. Everleigh and I decided to stay an additional 3 weeks. Not only to help my sister but to make memories that we otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to make. We are in the pool almost every day and Everleigh is making leaps and bounds of progress learning to swim! So proud and amazed by our fearless and tenacious peanut.

More family. More summer. More memories.
